As part of my role as an independent consultant, I am fortunate to travel around the world. It sounds more glamorous than it actually is, with long flights, delayed connections, and the constant challenge of navigating unfamiliar places. Yet this lifestyle provides me with something invaluable: time to ponder and reflect. I have come to cherish these moments between destinations, these quiet hours when ideas can settle and new perspectives can emerge. There is something about being in motion, about stepping outside familiar routines, that helps me think about concepts in completely new ways.

While traveling, I began to realize that I might be able to help fellow educators by capturing and sharing the insights that emerge from these experiences. This is how Traveling Teacher came to be. I started creating YouTube videos that highlighted tips and reflections from different places around the world, hoping to bring the wisdom I was discovering back to educators who might not have the opportunity to travel themselves. The project became a way to bridge the gap between the learning I was doing on the road and the community of educators I wanted to serve.

I decided to organize the videos into three categories: connnections, reflections, and wonderings. Connections explore how experiences in different places link to teaching and learning in unexpected ways. Reflections capture the deeper thinking that happens when we step back from our daily routines and see our work from a different vantage point. Wonderings embrace the questions and curiosities that arise when we encounter new ways of thinking and being in the world.

My hope is that you will find videos that inspire you to become a traveling teacher too, whether that means physically exploring new places or simply adopting the mindset of a traveler in your daily practice. Being a traveling teacher is not about the stamps in your passport or the miles you accumulate. It is about approaching your work with curiosity, openness, and a willingness to see familiar things through fresh eyes.
