Educator Shout-Out: Misty Paterson

When I think of Misty Paterson, these words come to mind: energetic, authentic, and unforgettable.  She truly is what you see on screen.  There is no gimmick or hype.  She just loves helping others to create learning that best meets the needs of their learners.  We need more people like her in the world. 

Misty and I became acquainted in Aug 2021 when we connected through Twitter.  From one chat, it turned into a partnership of ideas to a real friendship.  I am so lucky to have her in my life, because I know she genuinely has my best interests at heart.

To be honest, it wasn't until I read Pop-Up Studio: Responsive Teaching for Today's Learners did I realize what a gem I had in my world.  Misty shared simple, yet dynamic ways to connect agency, inquiry, materials, and conceptual understanding together.  As an experienced practitioner, I still discovered aha moments that I could easily apply back to my practice.  This is not so easy to do.  But, her work is simply powerful.  The 4A's, CME, and POWR help learners to see the possiblities within their learning.  When I chat with others who have read this book, we always have so much to talk about.  It's infectious!

Over the years, Misty and I have met up in Vancouver, Connecticut, New York, and Brussels, Belgium. We are becoming world travelers together and I can't wait to attend her next Edu-Retreat. They are unlike any other professional development that I have attended.  

How is it different?  Simply, Misty has a special way of seeing the world and making connections, which helps her participants expand their minds to new possibilities.
