We begin our book club for Seen, Heard, and Valued: Universal Design for Learning and Beyond tomorrow.  This book has really opened my eyes to what we can do to make all learners feel included in the learning process. 

As a trained general and special education teacher, I think all everyone should read this book.  Oftentimes when we see a child not performing according to what is "normal", we say it is a special education thing.  This is a very big misconception.  It is an every teacher thing.  

This quote below speaks to our ability to scaffold the learning for student success.  If we fail to scaffold, then we plan for our learners to fail.

I've seen it many times.  A teacher creates a wonderful plan, but what happens in the classroom is something completely different.  As I grow in my own understanding of learning, I know we can all do better to make learners to feel seen, heard, and valued.
